Ask yourself: “what affect would it have if I was finished with this?” If the project or problem you are currently faced with were finished and you were to look back at it, what would you ideally change?
Finding yourself in a jam, and not exactly sure what to, look at it as if the project is finished and done, and see what you had accomplished and then find what had went wrong, and how they all could be changed. And then go back and fix the problem. At least if you start at the end, and look at the problems in the beginning and finding a solution to solve the problem.
